Situation

Unikrn, the world’s premier online arena where people can gather, game and safely bet on organized, sanctioned multiplayer videogame competitions (eSports) from around the world, needed a concerted, comprehensive effort for its launch in the U.S., the U.K. and Australia.


Strategy

Due to the issue surrounding online wagering, we needed to “educate” the media, not only about the key differentiators of the platform, but also about wagering on eSports and the safety and legality surrounding it.


 

Execution and Tactics

Immediately, we worked with Unikrn to hone messaging, developed the necessary media materials and then secured launch day coverage that positively impacted how their platform and vision for eSports was received.

And while Unikrn was an unknown entity at the time of launch, its founder was not. Being that he is the founder of VoodooPC and former GM or Microsoft Ventures, we utilized his industry “klout” to our advantage, securing interviews for him with key outlets such as CNBC, The New York Times, Fortune, GeekWire, VICE, ESPN The Magazine, AListDaily, Seattle Times, etc.


Results

To complement the interviews, we supported Unikrn’s launch with a comprehensive media relations program that successfully generated media coverage in videogames, tech, sports, gaming and mainstream consumer press, ultimately helping to create massive awareness amongst target consumers in North America and around the world.
